So, I argue that the concept of "success" can be correlated with the activities of completely different people of different social and material status. In principle, all people can be divided into two categories: leaders and performers. Both can be successful. But if the leader has success or failure, it is clearly expressed then the performer is not so clear and unambiguous. However, there are common criteria for all success.
My peers
remember the time when we walked with children unaccompanied by dads and moms.
We came home after midnight, and no one was worried about it. We were
independent. In our boyish circle valued the ability to answer for their
actions. And naturally, make them. When we invented home-made powder rockets,
or pulled out a pack of cigarettes from our father’s pocket, or took the moped
ride of a brother without asking, we were fully aware that we could tear the
belt ruthlessly. But did! But they took it! Naturally, they punished us for it.
And bawling, whimpering was useless. I had to answer for my actions.
If a person was an initiative in his childhood, capable of performing desperate acts
and being responsible for them, then he is almost certainly now a man of
success, since one of his most important qualities is the ability to make
decisions and take responsibility. But not because is he is so risky. And
because the ability to think analytically and in the future tells him that a
risky decision must be made.
It is
impossible to achieve success without the ability to make the right decisions
on time. But this is what a person should learn on their own and best of all since childhood.
If you
are constantly improving, learning, mastering skills from adjacent fields, it
means that sooner or later you will be able to think in categories not only of
today. You will begin to capture certain trends in the development of society
and in the development of the production on which you work. You will be able to
catch the moment when you have to fundamentally restructure your work in order
to have time to react to market changes. And if you are focused on success,
then you will not only have to keep up with the development of the market but
also be ahead of it. If you understand the general trends in the development of
a business, you will have a chance to become a trendsetter or a leader in the
development of new technologies.
A man of
success is one who knows how to think strategically and for the future.
In order
for routine work to become a real work, you need to constantly expand your
horizons, the sphere of knowledge. Tastes and needs change all the time. A new
fashion comes, new technologies appear. A person of success, by definition, is
all interesting he always seeks to optimize the workflow. He will try to do the
work faster and with better quality - so that as much free time remains
possible and so that he does not have to redo it. And for this, he needs to
master new knowledge and expand his horizons.
A person
of success is one who constantly expands the boundaries of his knowledge,
strives to learn always and everywhere.
People of
success are creative people. It is not enough for them to fulfill their duties
in good faith. It is not enough for them to receive a high salary, which allows
them to live as they are used to or want. Every new day for them is if not a
holiday, then a small accomplishment. They get great pleasure a perfectly
smooth weld. Or is a masterfully executed quarterly report. Or a
brilliantly designed and conducted an operation to detain a particularly
important criminal. Or is a major financial transaction. But they feel great
satisfaction not only and not so much from the result, as from the process.
Moreover: they themselves are trying to make this process more interesting and
more pleasant for themselves. This is creativity. Remember, as the artist
Nikolai Roerich said: “Even the floors can be washed beautifully.”
So, a successful person is a person of creativity.
One more
quality of a person of success is self-reliance. Do not confuse this with
self-confidence. Self-confidence is a false message, basically having a desire
for showing off. Self-confidence is based on the awareness of their qualities
and abilities. When a person of success says: “I can do it,” he says quite
deliberately. His whole past experience and his sense of his “I” allow him to
be confident in his own abilities. A person of success differs from an ordinary
person in that he knows his ceiling, but he also knows how he is able to raise
his personal bar.
True,
confidence alone is not enough. There is still a great desire to move forward.
A person of success sets a goal and goes to it - persistently, step by step.
Yes, he can stop, turn to the side, because sometimes he needs a break. And he
also knows: the shortest direct path to the goal is not always. An example is a
famous scientist Champollion, who deciphered Egyptian hieroglyphs. To do this,
it took him to learn ancient Greek, Latin, Coptic, spend an enormous amount of
time and energy, does many things completely unrelated to linguistics and
linguistics, but ... he achieved the goal set in childhood. The little boy
Heinrich, having heard the Iliad as a child, declared that he would find Troy,
and many years later the millionaire Schliemann, having gathered an expedition
for his money, opened this mythical city, having fulfilled his cherished dream.
For a person of success, the most important quality was, is, and remains
faithful to his dream. The path to the target or is more simply purposefulness.
Each of
us does not live in a vacuum. We are always surrounded by other people, with
their habits, mentality, ideas about life, ideas about success, finally. Not
all of them share your thoughts, feelings, and beliefs. Someone will inevitably
become an obstacle on your way to the Goal. For example, is a competitor.
Someone will stick a stick in the wheel - just because it is his favorite
activity. Finally, there is a huge army of skeptics who will condemn you and
laugh at you. Hard to breakthrough are alone. Around talented and successful
people there are always those you can rely on: friends who believe in them and
partners who provide real help. A person of success should be able to find
people who can help him go to the intended goal. And if at the earliest stage
these are parents and teachers, then the choice will turn out to be more
difficult, and the cost of a mistake in such a choice can be very high.
On the
path to success of a person inevitably expect and failure. The more significant
the goal is the greater the risk of failure. Suppose the first or second you
still transfer. But then, again and again, you will stumble, and fall, rollback.
If you give up - you do not just stop. You will move in the opposite direction
to success. But if you begin to analyze each failure, if during the next climb
you learn the experience of past mistakes, you will not repeat them. And then,
step by step, your peak will be getting closer and closer. For a person of
success, a negative result is also a result. You can come to success, bypassing
failure. But you cannot succeed without the ability to extract from the failures
to achieve the goal.
A man of
success always benefits from his past mistakes and failures.
